The Phase 1 of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), built at a cost of around Rs 19,650 crore, stands as a symbol of next-generation infrastructure and sustainable innovation. India's largest Greenfield airport project developed under a Public–Private Partnership, NMIA will serve as the second international airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, working alongside CSMIA to ease congestion and elevate Mumbai into the league of global multi-airport systems. Spread across 1160 hectares, it is designed to handle 90 million passengers annually and 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo. The airport will feature an Automated People Mover connecting its four terminals, dedicated storage for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, a 47 MW solar power system, EV bus connectivity and India's first water taxi link, setting new benchmarks in smart, sustainable and world-class aviation infrastructure. Navi Mumbai International Airport, officially renamed as, DB Patil International Airport, or Dinkar Balu Patil International Airport, and more recently named as Adani | Navi Mumbai International Airport is an international airport being constructed near the city of Navi Mumbai, Maharastra, India. It will serve in parallel with Mumbai's existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), becoming the second airport of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Once completed, both airports will serve as India's first urban multi-airport system.
